The following is a list of consumer protection agencies which you can write or call for more information on specific problems:
- You can file a complaint against a business with the Illinois Attorney General's Office. There is an official complaint form you must fill out and you must attach photocopies of any papers involved (contracts, warranties, bills received, canceled checks, etc.)

- To limit some of the mail you do not want, you can sign up for the free mail preference service operated by the Direct Marketing Association. It will instruct its' mail marketing members to take you off their lists. Write to (include your name, address and telephone number):

- You have the right under federal law to tell a company not to call you by phone or not to contact you in writing. Ask to be placed on the "do not call" list, the company must keep a list of these consumers and not contact them. Keep a record for your file. To report violations, contact the Federal Trade Commission.
- To reduce telephone calls you do not want, you can sign up with the free telephone preference service operated by the Direct Marketing Association. (You must sign up for this separate from the mail preference service.) Write to (include your name, address and telephone number):
